I have asked the ancestors many of nights to part with me their enlightenment of wisdom, and knowledge. To bind their connection with me to build what we had once more. These are the thoughts that came flowing back to me.

“I have been treated worse than the mind can comprehend, I have seen other’s treated worse than I can speak on. If the earth beneath my feet or the trees could speak, their stories would take away your sleep. You asked, what’s hid in the past, I tell you in your DNA. Live for my suffering, that it may not be in vain. Smile for my tears, and carry your people that will soon be forgotten. Taken over by false hope, shamed by false struggle, and marked by those who will never knew their way is not my tears. But never forget the path that has gotten you here.

You will always know I’m with you, when you look in the mirror. There, you will see my smile, and my eyes in yours. There you will see my skin, my facial structure, my struggle in your eyes. You know my struggles, I’ve told my children, and brought it down to you. The knowledge, hope, faith, patience, and love. I am here and will be always….”

I got up and walked to the mirror, there I saw inside; My mother’s smile, my mother’s eyes, my father’s skin, my grandmother’s bone structure, and my great grandmother’s knowledge. Things that will grow old with me, things I have taught my children. Thank you ancestors, I am grateful for you, to be you, through you. It is an honor, privilege, and respectful to pass you on to the next generation….
